Egyptian Cat

The cat was associated with the goddess Bastet in ancient Egypt. In addition to representing the protective powers of the sun, Bastet was also known as the goddess of joy, music, and dancing. In Bastet's sacred city of Bubastis, cats were treated with great honor and respect.
