Thanks to the work of Lakaye Studio and other henna artists, the ancient art form has become increasingly popular in the West and has been drawing lots of media attention. Below are just a few samples from our scrapbook.

In January 1997 my husband and I took the bold and risky step of opening the first space in the United States totally dedicated to the art of mehndi. There we were, art dealers selling Caribbean and Latin art, when this art form from India, Africa, and the Middle East entered our lives. Before long we were nose-deep in henna, and I knew I was entering a new, chaotic, and exciting period of my life.
